About

I’m a web producer and a journalist, specialising in social media development and currently serving as Community Editor at The Economist. I manage and develop community features at The Economist online and across several social networks; I also write about technology, politics and international relations, in print and on the web.

I spent the first five years of my career in the publishing industry, developing digital strategy at HarperCollins. Amongst other projects, I worked on the creation of authonomy.com, a talent-spotting writing community which launched the careers of several young authors and which in 2010 won the British Book Industry’s Award for Innovation.

I’ve lived and worked in London, Sydney and Paris, and now reside in Hammersmith, West London. A graduate of the University of St Andrews, I’ve cropped up now and then on national radio, and have been an infrequent speaker at events on digital publishing, social media and the book industry.

You can contact me through the social media links on this page; alternatively, I can be emailed on mark@majohnson.org.
